Courtney Shea named to Assured Guaranty board

Courtney Shea, a 35-plus-year public finance veteran, has been elected to Assured Guaranty’s Board of Directors.

“I have long admired Assured Guaranty’s contribution to public finance, as well as its experienced management team, disciplined credit culture and resilience through periods of economic distress,” Shea said. “I look forward with enthusiasm to helping assess strategic priorities for its continued success.”

She will serve on the board’s audit committee and its environmental and social responsibility committee.

Shea has served as both a municipal advisor and investment banker working with state and local governments, not-for-profits, and universities in their issuance of municipal bonds.

She was owner and a managing member of Columbia Capital Management, a national municipal advisory firm, from Sept. 2013 until April. Prior to her tenure at Columbia, Shea was an public finance advisor and investment banker with several firms.

She is also an independent director and Audit Committee chair of the Professional Diversity Network. Additionally, she serves on several not–for–profit boards, including the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago and the Milken Institute Center for Financial Markets Public Finance Advisory Council.

Shea was a founding member of Women in Public Finance, a women’s professional organization founded in 1996. She was also a winner of the private sector Freda Johnson Award for Trailblazing Women in Public Finance, at The Bond Buyer’s Deal of the Year ceremony in December 2019.

Also joining the Assured board this month are Michelle McCloskey and Lorin P.T. Radtke.

McCloskey has more than 35 years of experience in executive roles in the energy, financial trading and asset management sectors, most recently working at Man Group

Redtke is the co-founder and partner of venture capital firm M Seven 8.
