Hawaii Christmas Tree Farm Sells Just In The (Saint) Nick Of Time

Real Estate

Talk about timing. A Hawaii property containing a working Christmas tree farm sold as the calendar counted down to the holiday.

Set high in the hillside community of Launiupoko on Maui’s west side, the nearly three-acre spread also contains a bungalow, a barn and an orchard with a variety of fruit trees. The site takes in sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean, sunsets and the neighboring islands of Lanai and Molokai.

Built in 2003, the eco-friendly custom home has two bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms within its 1,024 square feet. Plank floors continue throughout the open plan living area and adjoining light-filled kitchen. A wraparound lanai extends the living space outdoors.

The low-profile house is in the Plantation style, as evidenced by the vertical plank siding and the wide hipped roof set at a slight pitch. A photovoltaic system on the roof provides energy-saving power.

The 980-square-foot barn includes a two-car garage with an upper level office/bedroom, a living room, a kitchen with an eat-at island and a bathroom. A deck sits off the living area. There’s also an outdoor shower.

Anna Severson of Hawaii Life was the listing agent for 60 E. Huapala Place #B, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. She also represented the buyers, a family who will make Maui their full-time home.

“This is … symbolic, to purchase the property in time for the holiday,” Severson says. “We are seeing more families buying to live on Maui, rather than purchasing as a vacation home.”

The property, set between Lahaina to the north and Olowalu to the south, sold for US $2.7 million. It’s about two miles from downtown Lahaina.
