Citi has hired Kroll Bond Rating Agency analyst Alice Cheng to help lead its Institutional Clients Group.

Cheng, who spent the past six years as a rating analyst for Kroll’s public finance team, began her new role in April as a senior vice president of Citi’s Institutional Clients Group in New York covering its public sector portfolio.

Alice Cheng started in April at Citi’s Institutional Clients Group.

A Citi spokesman declined to comment on the hire or what her specific responsibilities are.

The Kroll press office did not immediately respond for comment.

Cheng started at Kroll in 2014 as a senior analyst for public finance.

In 2016, she assumed the role of associate director of public finance where she provided credit analysis for high-profile issuers such as the City of Los Angeles, New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the San Diego School District.

She was promoted to director in February 2019.

In 2018, Cheng was a recipient of The Bond Buyer Rising Stars Award.

Cheng told The Bond Buyer upon receiving the honor that public finance was initially not on her radar and she was drawn to the field while pursuing a Master’s degree in health and financial management at New York University.
